Southern Connecticut will host Assumption for its Northeast 10 Conference opener on Tuesday, Mar. 21 at 3 p.m. at The Ballpark at SCSU. Southern enters the game with a record of 12-5 overall while Assumption is 5-11 on the year.

All-Time Against Assumption
Southern and Assumption have not met on the diamond since 2018 when the Owls swept a doubleheader against the Greyhounds in New Haven. Prior to that season, Assumption won five of the previous six games from 2013 through 2016. The Owls owned a six-game winning streak against the Greyhounds from 2011 through 2013.
 
Benincaso Wins NE10 Honor Roll Recognition
Tommy Benincaso (Flemington, N.J.) was named to the NE10 Honor Roll on this week.
Benincaso was the only pitcher in the NE10 to win two games this past week. Against Molloy, Benincaso picked up the win for Southern Connecticut after a five-inning outing that accounted for five runs – only three earned – on eight hits while striking out three to lead the Owls to a big regional victory against Molloy, ranked fifth in the NCBWA Northeast Regional Poll.
 
Benincaso saved his top performance of the year for the Owls' matchup against American International. The Owls' transfer dominated the Yellow Jackets as he allowed just two hits over eight innings while striking out five with one of AIC's two runs being earned.

For the year, Benincaso is 3-0 with a 4.33 ERA with 18 strikeouts over 27 innings.

Following its tilt against Assumption, Southern will travel to American International n Wednesday, Mar. 22. The Owls have the weekend off and then return home to host AIC on Tuesday, Mar. 28 and then travel to Assumption on Wednesday, Mar. 29. The Owls then host Queens for a doubleheader on Apr. 1 and then face a 10-game road trip until Apr. 22 & 23 when it hosts Saint Rose.
