Southern Connecticut softball will host Caldwell for a non-conference matchup on Sunday, Apr. 16 at 1 p.m. at Pelz Field. Southern is currently 11-17 on the season while Caldwell comes to New Haven with a record of 23-10.

  • Southern is coming off a split with New Haven in which the Owls took the first game, 5-0, behind a brilliant performance on the mound by Jessica Perucki, before dropping the second game, 4-1.
  • Jessica Perucki threw a gem in the first game as she blanked New Haven over seven innings for the complete game shutout. Perucki improved to 6-8 on the year after holding New Haven to three hits while striking out seven.
  • At the plate, Katrina Roy was 2-for-4 with a RBI and a run scored while Gabby Festa also had a pair of hits and a RBI. 
  • Rachel Miller drove in two runs while Emily Lange was 1-for-3 with two runs scored. Jacqueline Dumont also drove in a run for the Owls.

  • Jacqueline Dumont enters Sunday's matchup batting a team-high .404 with five home runs and 21 RBI as well as 17 runs scored.
  • For career, Dumont ranks fifth in home runs (23), sixth in RBI (116), fifth in doubles (34) and fourth in batting average (.372).
  • Katrina Roy is right behind Dumont at .395 (32-81) with 16 runs scored and 13 RBI as well as 11 walks for a .485 on-base percentage.
  • Emily Lange is currently on an eight-game streak in which she's reached base safely, including a three-game hitting streak in which she is hitting .600 (6-10).
  • Lange is hitting .292 (26-89) with a team-leading 18 runs scored as well as eight RBI.
  • Gabby Festa is enjoying a break-out season as she checks in with a .307 average (23-75) with a team-leading seven doubles as well as 16 RBI and nine runs scored.
  • Rachel Miller has totaled 14 RBI and 12 runs scored.
  • On mound, Jessica Perucki is 6-8 with a 1.32 ERA with 111 strikeouts in 95 2/3 innings pitched. Perucki's 1.32 ERA ranks third in the conference and 30th in NCAA Division II softball. She also ranks 41st nationally with 8.2 strikeouts per nine innings, which also ranks fifth in the conference.
