Anna Sashia-Jones Named Northeast 10 Outdoor Track Rookie of the Year

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Southern Connecticut women's track & field first-year student standout Anna-Sashia Jones was named the Northeast 10 Conference Outdoor Track Rookie of the Year, as announced by the conference on Tuesday, May 23.

The honor is Jones' second major award of the year after also earning NE10 Indoor Track Rookie of the Year honors. At this year's outdoor meet, Jones won the 100 Meter Championship with a time of 12.00 as well as the 4x100 Relay Championship with a time of 46.39 that broke the conference record of 46.60, also set by SCSU in 2014.

Jones also finished fourth in the 200 Meters at 25.03. She was previously part of the 4x400 Indoor Championship team and medaled in the 60 Meter and 200 Meter runs. At the NEICAAA Outdoor Championships, Jones was part of the 4x100 team that won the New England Championship and finished second in the 4x400.

Jones was also named to the USTFCCCA Outdoor All-Region team in the 100 Meters, 4x100 and 4x400, after also earning Indoor All-Region honors.
