NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Southern Connecticut State University women's cross country team was ranked second in Week Two of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association East Regional Rankings as announced on Tuesday, September 19th. Southern Connecticut jumped from fifth to second in the rankings for Week Two. This is the Owls' highest in-season ranking since 2011.
The ranking comes after the strong performance by Southern at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational, where they placed fourth out of 16 teams.
Briana Grecco was the first Owl to cross the finish line with a time of 18:31.52 and finished in 18th place.
Megan Whitnell finished 31st with a time of 18:45.48.
PJ Dauphinais and
Courtney Henchcliffe finished in 38th and 39th with a time of 18:55.51 and 18:56.45, respectively.
Emilie Noreika was 59th with a time of 19:22.
Abigail Bajorek completed the race in 19:47.90, while
Sarah Johnson finished in 22:16.07.
Cross Country returns on Saturday, October 7th in Romeoville, Illinois at Lewis Crossover.
