Courtney Henchcliffe Wins NE10 Sport Excellence Award for 2025 Season

Southern Connecticut women's cross country and track & field standout Courtney Henchcliffe was named one of the Northeast 10 Conference's Scholar-Athlete Sport Excellence winners for the Fall 2025 season, as announced by the conference on Wednesday, February 11th.

Henchcliffe had a dominant cross country season, helping lead the Owls to their second NE10 and NCAA East Region Championships in program history. She was the individual champion at the NE10 Championships, joining Laura Brustolon as the only runners in program history to do so, then became the first Owl to ever place first at the Regional Championships, also clinching the team's third-consecutive NCAA National Championship bid. At the National Championships, she recorded a personal-best time on the 6K course, placing 64th and leading the Owls to their best finish as a team in program history. Henchcliffe was named the NE10 and NCAA East Region Cross Country Runner of the Year, and earned All-NE10 First Team and All-Region honors. She has continued to dominate during the indoor track & field season, already breaking the program record in the 3000m. In the classroom, she boasts a 3.45 GPA while majoring in nursing. She was already named Academic All-Conference by the NE10.
