SCSU Women's Soccer ties with Saint Anselm 1-1

MANCHESTER, N.H. - Southern Connecticut Women's Soccer drew against Saint Anselm 1-1. The Owls move to 4-4-3 on the season, 1-3-2 in the Northeast-10 Conference.

On Saint Anselm's Senior Day, the Hawks opened up the scoring. In the 19th minute, Alison Silverstein drilled one over the outstretched hands of Owls goalie Kaelen Fabry to go up 1-0. That was the only goal Fabry would allow, tallying 11 saves in another very strong performance. In two games this week, she posted 20 saves.

The Owls had chances, but could not find the back of the net until the 82nd minute, when Junior Shelby Green put home her first career goal off a free kick from Mimmi Bauréus. Green, a defender from Milford, Connecticut, scored for the first time in her three years with the Owls. Bauréus picked up her first career assist on the score in her first year with the Owls.

The Owls return at home on Tuesday, October 18th at 7:00 p.m. for Breast Cancer Awareness Day.
