SCSU Women's Soccer Takes Down Jefferson 1-0

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Southern Connecticut Women's Soccer defeated previously unbeaten Jefferson 1-0 on Breast Cancer Awareness Day. The Owls improve to 5-4-3 on the season.

The Owls and Coach Adam Cohen instituted an interesting strategy against the Rams, using almost the entire bench and making hockey-esque line substitutions. This payed off in the 13th minute, when sophomore Isabella LaPerle poked one past the Jefferson keeper and in for her first career goal. LaPerle, who also recorded her first career start, was assisted by graduate student Angela Filosa, who picked up her second assist of the year.

The Owls deployed a duo in goal, with seniors Kaelen Fabry and Abby Aughe splitting duties for each half and holding the previously undefeated Rams off the scoreboard. Fabry tallied three saves, including a dazzling one-handed stop, and Aughe collected a save of her own.

The Owls return this Friday at home to take on Bentley in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup.
