SCSU Women's Soccer Takes Down Mercy 4-0

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Southern Connecticut State University Women's Soccer defeated Mercy 4-0 in an out-of-conference matchup on Wednesday, October 29th. The Owls improve to 6-5-5 on the season. 



The Owls broke a scoreless tie in the 26th minute when Alexie Rosado scored off a Maverick deflection. The score marked the fifth of the season for the graduate student and the ninth of her career. Sydney Myers picked up an assist on the goal. 

Junior Nicky Deslauriers scored the next two for the Owls, with the first coming on a rocket shot from outside the 18-yard box. The 33rd minute score was assisted by Caileigh Driscoll, her second of the year. 

Deslauriers' second goal came in the final minute of the first half, when she put home a deflected shot from Myers. She now sits at three goals on the season. 

Rosado finished off the strong offensive performance with another score in the 60th minute, sending the ball past the Mercy goalie and into the bottom-left corner of the net. Myers assisted again, giving her three on the day and five on the season. The sophomore now leads the Owls in goals, assists, and points in her first year on the squad. 

The senior tandem of Kaelen Fabry and Abby Aughe pitched a shutout in net for the Owls, with Fabry totaling four saves and Aughe picking up one of her own. 

The Owls return to Jess Dow Field on Wednesday, November 6th for their final regular season match against New Haven.
