SCSU Women's Lacrosse Tops St. Thomas Aquinas, 20-2

Southern Connecticut women's lacrosse extended its all-time-best winning streak to five games with a 20-2 victory against St. Thomas Aquinas at Jess Dow Field. With the win, the Owls improved to 6-2 while STAC dropped to 3-6.

Morgan Reilly led the Owls with six points on three goals and three assists while Kirsten McIntire scored five times. Amelia Mansfield had a goal and three assists for a career-best four points, as well as three draw controls and two ground balls. Alexa Alchimio had her first career hat trick and Alexadra Ruel had a goal and two assists. Savannah Feinberg scored once and assisted on another, while also posting a team-best five draw controls. Hannah Holmes, Alie Welder, Jordan Fisher and Anna Meserve also scored for the Owls.

Defensively, Sarah Robbins and Ailis Wargin both had three caused turnovers while Wargin added two ground balls. In goal, Caelen Connors had two saves on three shots-on-goal while Hannah Sommer had a save and one goal allowed in the second half.

Southern scored the first four goals of the game with a pair of goals from Morgan Reilly sandwiched between a pair by McIntire. McIntire scored three-straight Owls goals as Southern took a 6-1 lead. Southern pushed its lead to 18-1 after scoring 14 unanswered goals through the first minute of the fourth quarter.

Meserved scored early in the second before Alchimio scored back-to-back goals, with assists going to Feinberg and Reilly. Palmer, Welder, Fisher and Mansfield all scored before McIntire found the back of the net for her fifth of the game with 10 minutes to play in the third. Reilly also added another Owls' goal with 36-seconds remining in the third.

In the fourth, Alchimio opened the scoring before Ruel and Holmes both tallied markers down the stretch to seal the 20-2 victory.

Southern is back in action when it travels to Garden City, N.Y. to take Adelphi for a Northeast-10 Conference matchup on Wednesday, Mar. 27 at 5 p.m.
