NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Southern Connecticut women's lacrosse standout
Macy Vail was named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II East Region Second Team, as announced by the IWLCA on Wednesday, May 13, 2026. This is the first IWLCA East Region recognition for Vail in her career and the first time in program history that an Owl has earned the honor.
In all, 128 student-athletes earned All-Region recognition, advancing them to be eligible to be named to an IWLCA All-American team. The IWLCA will announce the Division II 2026 All-American teams on May 20.
Macy Vail had another impressive season for Southern Connecticut in 2026. Vail led the Owls with 46 goals and 65 points. She is the ninth player in program history to record a 60-point season and is the second player to do it twice. In two seasons with the Owls, she totaled 95 goals, 46 assists and 141 points, which is ranked sixth in program history. She scored a goal in every single game that she played for the Owls. Vail, in addition to Connors, became the first players in program history to be named to the All-NE10 First Team. She helped Southern have their best season in program history, host their first NE10 postseason game at Jess Dow Field and their first NCAA Tournament berth in program history.
In her final game with Southern, she scored a team-best of three goals, dished two assists, recorded five points, picked up two ground balls and caused a turnover against Mercy in the first round of the NCAA East Regional. Vail was consistently ranked in the top 15 of the NE10 in goals per game and points per game. Vail scored a season-best of four goals, three times and dished out a season-best of three assists in a 23-4 win over Caldwell. In addition, she was named NE10 Player of the Week on March 23, 2026.
