Box Score PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Southern Connecticut women's lacrosse fell to No. 3 Mercy University, 19-10, in the first round of the NCAA East Regional. With the loss, the Owls finished their historic 2026 season with an overall record of 12-6 while the Mavericks advanced to the second round of the NCAA East Regional.
Macy Vail led the Owls with a team-best of three goals, with a team-best of five points, two assists and two ground balls.
Anna Meserve and
Bailey McDermott scored two goals.
Allie Welder,
Abigail Nolan and
Nicolette Spotlow all scored a goal. Meserve won a team-best of six draws. Six Owls caused a turnover:

Grace Galvin,
Rebecca Sibley, McDermott and Vail. In goal,
Caelan Connors had seven saves against the Mavericks.
In the first quarter, the Mavericks got on the board first, but
Allie Welder responded with the Owls' first goal of the game. Then, Mercy scored their scored second goal before
Bailey McDermott scored her first goal. After that, the Mavericks recorded another goal, as
Macy Vail answered with her first goal of the game. Mercy put three straight goals on the board before
Abigail Nolan had her first goal. The Mavericks continued to have momentum as they scored three goals, to close out the first quarter, with a 9-4 lead over the Owls.
In the second quarter, Mercy put a goal on the board early, right before
Anna Meserve recorded her first goal of the game. The Mavericks kept their offensive pressure on Southern, as they recorded four unanswered goals, to end the first half, up 14-5.
In the third quarter,
Bailey McDermott scored her second goal of the game, with an assist from
Macy Vail. After that, Mercy scored two straight goals and took a 16-6 lead, as they headed into the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the Mavericks got on the board first. Then,
Anna Meserve responded with her second goal of the day before Mercy scored another goal.
Macy Vail scored her second goal, with an assist from
Nicolette Spotlow. After that, Spotlow got on the board, from the free position, for the Owls' ninth goal of the day. Mercy scored one more goal before
Macy Vail scored her third goal of the game. After that, the Mavericks secured the 19-10 victory over Southern Connecticut.
