SCSU Women's Lacrosse Falls To Bentley In Season Finale

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut women's lacrosse lost a Northeast-10 Conference matchup to Bentley, 17-9, in its season finale at Jess Dow Field. With the loss, the Owls finish the year at 8-9 overall and 3-8 in the NE10 while Bentley improved to 10-6 overall and 7-3 in conference play.

Savannah Feinberg had a season-best, and game-high, nine draw controls in the game including the 100th of her career. Offensively, Morgan Reilly led the Owls with two goals and an assist for three points while Kirsten McIntire had two goals. Reilly finishes her Owls' career with 41 goals and 41 assists, which are tied for the third-most in program history. Her 28 assists this year are the second-most in a season, trailing Bayleigh Takacs' program record of 37 a year ago.

McIntire finished her career with 91 goals and 11 assists for 102 points, including two seasons at Merrimack in which she totaled two goals and an assists. Her 89 goals as an Owl rank eighth all-time, while her 56 goals this year are the second-most in a single season and her 63 points rank fifth in program history.

Caelen Connors had 12 saves in goal while Hannah Holmes had three ground balls and two caused turnovers. Holmes finishes her Owls' career with 65 caused turnovers, good for third all-time in program history.

Bentley controlled play for most of the game, including a seven-goal run to open the game. Jordan Fisher put the Owls on the board with her 10th goal of the season with 3:21 to play in the first quarter. McIntire scored with 5:45 to play in the second to make it 11-2 before Abigail Nolan scored her 11th goal of the season to send the game into the half, 11-3.

Coming out of the break, Reilly converted for her 18th goal of the season before adding her 19th at the beginning of the fourth quarter. Allie Welder also scored at the end of the third quarter. Southern managed to outscore the Falcons in the fourth, 4-2, to pull the Owls within eight down the stretch. Alexandra Ruel scored her 21st goal of the year, followed by McIntire's team-leading 56th goal of the year and Amelia Mansfield inside the final two minutes of the game for her 10th of the season.
