SCSU Women's Soccer Defeats Holy Family 4-0

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Southern Connecticut Women's Soccer jumped back into the win column with a 4-0 victory over Holy Family University, led by two scores each from Caileigh Driscoll and Sydney Myers. The Owls improved their record to 2-1-1 on the season. 

Sophomore Sydey Myers opened up the scoring for the Owls with a goal in the 10th minute. Myers dribbled into the left side of the box, beat her defender, and put one past the Holy Family goalie into the right side of the net. 

Southern continued the scoring when Senior Caileigh Driscoll found the back of the net in the 18th minute. Junior Nicky Deslauries brought the ball into the left side of the box, and delivered a perfect centering pass that Driscoll sent past the Tigers' goalkeeper. Deslauriers picked up her second assist of the year on the score. 

Driscoll struck again in the 55th minute, putting home a rebound after Myers' shot was turned away. Driscoll's two scores marked the second and third of her Owls career. Myers collected her first assist of the year. 

Myers picked up her second score of the day in the 82nd minute of a header pass from Freshman Emma Noheimer. Myers delivered a beautiful strike from the top of the 18-yard box into the bottom left of the goal. Myers leads the Owls in goals after tallying her second and third today. Noheimer picked up her first career assist. 

Seniors Kaelen Fabry and Abby Aughe pitched a shutout in goal for the Owls, with four saves between the pair. Southern has now shut their opponents out in three of their four games. 

The Owls return this Saturday, September 21st for their home opener. They will also celebrate senior day, with 12 graduating players being honored.
