MANCHESTER, N.H. - Southern Connecticut field hockey fell to Southern New Hampshire, 2-0 on Saturday afternoon. The Penmen improved to an overall record of 12-4 and an NE10 record of 8-2 while the Owls dropped to an overall record of 8-8 and an NE10 record of 5-5.
Rachel Miller recorded seven saves in goal for the Owls, with three saves in the first half and four saves in the second half, while
Lyla O'Connor made a save in the fourth quarter against the Penmen.
In the first half, it was a battle between the Owls and the Penmen as neither team scored a goal in the first 30 minutes of play, due to the strong defensive play by both teams. However, in the third quarter, Southern New Hampshire scored two goals to take a 2-0 lead over Southern Connecticut. In the fourth quarter, the Owls looked to make a comeback; but the Penmen held on to take the 2-0 victory.
Southern will return home to Jess Dow Field on Tuesday, Oct. 28 for an NE10 matchup against Pace at 4:00 pm. The Owls will have Senior Day on Saturday, Nov. 1 in an NE10 matchup against Franklin Pierce at Jess Dow Field.
