Diego Flores Named NE10 Goalkeeper and Rookie Of The Week

NEW HAVEN, CONN.—Southern Connecticut standout rookie goalkeeper Diego Flores was named the Northeast 10 Conference Goalkeeper Of The Week and Rookie Of The Week for week five, as announced by the NE10 on Monday Oct. 6. This is Flores' first Goalkeeper of the Week Award as an Owl and his second Rookie of the Week recognition in back-to-back weeks.
 
Flores continued to build on his already strong season in a successful week of matches, pitching two shutouts against both Caldwell University and Mercy University. Flores now holds a four-game shut-out streak, not allowing a goal since Sept. 19.
 
Flores tallied ten saves across two matches this week for the Owls. Against Mercy, Flores had six saves including one in the final five minutes of the match. 
 
Southern Connecticut men's soccer is back in action Tuesday Oct. 7 when they host American International College at 7 PM at Jess Dow Field.
