Volpe, Sallum Named NE10 Runner and Rookie of the Week

Southern Connecticut men's cross country standouts Jonathan Volpe and Colton Sallum were named the Northeast 10 Conference Runner and Rookie of the Week for the second straight week. The Owls have won every weekly cross country award this season.

Volpe continued his phenomenal season with an eighth-place finish in a field of 314 runners at the highly competitive Paul Short Run. His time of 24:41.3 was the top time on the team, helping the Owls to an eighth-place finish out of 39 teams.

Sallum continues his impressive debut season with the Owls. He finished 39th out of 314 runners at the highly competitive Paul Short Run, crossing the line at 25:27.4 also helping the Owls to an eighth-place finish. He in the only runner in the conference to be named Rookie of the Week this season.

The Owls compete in their final regular season meet this week when they travel to Westfield, Mass. for the James Earley Invitational on Saturday, October 11th.
