Box Score MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Southern Connecticut Baseball defeated the College of Staten Island at the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, winning 11-4. The Owls improve to 2-2 on the season.

Steve Phillips started the game for the Owls, giving up three runs in three innings of work and striking out five. Harry Roy picked up the win, throwing 6 innings in relief and allowing only one run. Jack Drewry homered in the second inning, his second of the year. He ended the day one for three with two walks. Spencer Chard and Izaiah Walker both recorded three hits, with Jake Gruttadauria and Brennan Staubley notching two apiece. Chard, Fedeli, Gruttadauria, Drewry, Walker, and Devin Pelletier all picked up an RBI.

The Dolphins jumped out to an early start, loading the bases in the top of the first with a walk and two singles before doubling with two outs to clear the bases and take a 3-0 lead. Jack Drewry responded for the Owls with a solo shot to lead off the bottom of the second.

Steve Phillips settled in after the first inning, holding Staten Island off the scoreboard for the next two frames. He would end the day with five strikeouts in three innings of work. Harry Roy would enter in relief, throwing three more scoreless innings before giving up a homer in the top of the seventh, putting the Dolphins ahead 4-1.

The Owls' offense was held scoreless after Drewry's homer by Dolphins' starter Ryan Kehoe, who delivered six strong innings. However, Southern jumped on CSI's bullpen, scoring three in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game. Derek Jagello started off the inning with a single, then moved to second on a Jake Chacho sacrifice bunt. Spencer Chard walked, and Chad Fedeli reached on a fielder's choice, loading the bases. A Jake Gruttadauria single brought Jagello home for the Owls' second run of the game, and a wild pitch scored Chard to bring Southern within one. A dropped fly ball off the bat of Drewry brought home Fedeli to tie the game at four.

The Owls kept the runs coming in the bottom of the eighth, scoring another seven runs. Devin Pelletier started the action with a pinch-hit double, driving in Brennan Staubley, who had led off the inning with a single. Chard drove in Pelletier with a single up the middle, and Fedeli brought home Chard with a single, though he was thrown out attempting to advance to second. Now up 7-4, Gruttadauria singled and Drewry walked, with Patrick Dillon bringing home Gruttadauria on a dropped fly ball. A walk from Izaiah Walker singled and drew a throwing error, scoring Dillon and Drewry, and another dropped fly ball off the bat of Staubley brought home Walker, putting the Owls ahead 11-4.

Roy finished off the game, picking up the win and pitching six innings of one-run ball in relief. He recorded three strikeouts, only giving up one walk.
