Cameron Belton, Natanael Barbosa Torres Selected for NCAA DII Indoor Track & Field National Championships

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Southern Connecticut Men's Indoor Track & Field Standouts Cameron Belton and Natanael Barbosa Torres were both selected to compete in the Shot Put at the 2025 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships, as announced by the NCAA on Tuesday, March 4th. The championships will be held March 13-15 in Indianapolis, Indiana, at the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion. The University of Indianapolis and Indiana Sports Corp will serve as co-hosts of the championships.

Both athletes qualified for the championships by reaching a provisional standard established for each event. For each individual event contested, the top 18 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition.

Cameron Belton continues his decorated career, qualifying for the National Championship for the fourth straight year. This season, recorded the sixth-best Shot Put throw in all of Division II, throwing 18.24m (59' 10.25") at the Art Kadish Elm City Challenge. He placed first in every Shot Put competition he participated in this year, including the Northeast-10 Indoor Track & Field Championships, where he won his fourth straight gold in the event. This year, he was named the NE10's Field Athlete of the Week twice and landed on the NE10's Faces in the Crowd. Last season, he placed 14th at the 2024 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships.

Natanael Barbosa Torres broke out in the 2024-25 Indoor season, qualifying for the National Championship for the first time. He also recorded his top throw at the Art Kadish Elm City Challenge, throwing 18.20m (59' 8.5"), which is the eighth-best throw in all of Division II. He won his second consecutive silver medal at the Northeast-10 Indoor Track & Field Championships. Belton and Barbosa Torres were the only throwers in the NE10 to exceed 16m, 17m, and 18m.

The 2025 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships will be held March 13-15 in Indianapolis, Indiana, at the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion. The University of Indianapolis and Indiana Sports Corp will serve as co-hosts of the championships. The championships will be streamed live on www.NCAA.com.
