STORRS, Conn. - Southern Connecticut Women's Outdoor Track & Field saw five Owls compete at Day 1 of UConn's Northeast Challenge.
In the Long Jump, Kisha Francois finished fourth, jumping 5.63m (18-05.75). Deja Fitzpatrick-Bell matched the mark of 5.63m, setting a new personal best and placing fifth. That puts the two athletes in a tie for the third-best jump in the Northeast-10 Conference. Delaney Speed rounded out the pack in eighth, jumping 5.39m (17-08.25).
Maddie Hathorn set a new personal best in the Pole Vault for the second time this season. She cleared 3.36m (11-00.25), placing ninth overall. That extended her lead as the top-vaulter in the NE10.
Belle Smith placed 12th in the Discus Throw, throwing 40.35m (132-04). That is the second-best throw in the conference behind Smith's own mark of 42.74m.
The Owls compete at two meets tomorrow, finishing up Day 2 of the Northeast Challenge and competing at Yale's Mark Young Invitational.
