SCSU Softball Drops Two Against Bentley

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Southern Connecticut softball team dropped two games to Bentley losing both 2-1. The team's record moves to 13-18 overall and a 2-11 in the Northeast-10 while Bentley improves to 19-17 and 10-8 in the conference.



GAME 1: SCSU 1, BENTLEY 2
In Game 1, Karley Austin and Izzy Ingersoll were both 2-for-4. Olivia Young was 1-for-2 while Rachel Miller was 1-for-3 with a run scored. Ashley Lewis took the loss going all seven while allowing seven hits and two runs.

The Owls scored first in the bottom 3rd inning after Rachel Miller singled to centerfield. With two outs, Dominique DeLutri walked and Young singled to load the bases. Cassidy Sullivan then walked to bring in a run. 

The Falcons equalized in the bottom of the 6th and then scored what would be the winning run in the top of the 7th. 

GAME 2: SCSU 1, BENTLEY 2
In Game 2, Austin, Sophia Angiolini, Cassidy Sullivan, and Nadia Cestari all had hits. Giselle DeLutri pitched the first four innings and took the loss allowing five hits and two runs while striking out five. Kate Nickerson threw three innings allowing two hits and struck out three. 

Bentley scored two in the 2nd, before the Owls threatened in the 4th. With two outs, Angiolini singled to reach base and then advanced on a wild pitch before Sullivan came up with an RBI single to score Angiolini to put them within one. It wasn't enough as the Falcons took Game 2. 


The Owls will travel to Manchester, N.H. tomorrow, Apr. 22 for a doubleheader against SNHU and will finish Game 2 against Saint Anselm.
