SCSU Women's Lacrosse Falls To Adelphi In NE10 Tournament

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – Southern Connecticut women's lacrosse lost to Adelphi in the Northeast-10 Conference Championship Tournament Quarterfinals, 22-9, in Garden City, N.Y. With the loss, the Owls' season comes to a close with an overall record of 10-8, while its 10 regular-season wins stand as a program record.

Macy Vail led the Owls with two goals and two assists for a team-best four points while Jordan Fisher and Abigail Nolan both scored twice. Allie Palmer had a goal and an assist while Bailey McDermott and Amelia Mansfield also scored for the Owls.

For Vail, she finishes her first year with the Owls with 76 points – the second most in a single season in program history and behind Bayleigh Takacs' 78 points in 2022. Vail also finished the season with 49 goals which is good for the sixth-most in Owls' history. Maddox Burton added an assist in the game to give her 34 for the year, which is second to Takacs' 37 assists in 2023. In addition, the Owls featured three players - Vail (49), Palmer (36) and Fisher (36) – with 35 goals in a single season in program history.

It was Vail for Burton on the first goal of the game as the Owls took an early 1-0 lead just 25 seconds into regulation. Adelphi scored eight-straight goals to take a 9-1 lead before McDermott scored her 19^th goal of the season to break-up the Panthers' scoring run.

Adelphi pushed its lead to 15-2 before Nolan took a pass from Vail to score her 14^th goal of the season with two minutes to play in the first half. Coming out of the break, Fisher scored her 35^th goal of the year to cut Adelphi's lead to 16-4. Vail scored again to make it 18-5 with just under seven minutes to play in the third quarter.

In the fourth, Southern outscored Adelphi, 4-2. Mansfield scored her 16^th goal of the year with just under 11 minutes to go before Fisher scored her 36^th of the season. Palmer then found the back of the net for her 36^th of the year before Nolan scored with two minutes to play to cap the scoring on the afternoon.
