NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Southern Connecticut Men's Outdoor Track & Field received three of the five Northeast 10 postseason awards for the 2025 season, as announced by the conference on May 20th. Cameron Belton was named the Field Athlete of the Year, Lawrence Hicks was named the Field Rookie of the Year, and Head Coach John Wallin was named Coach of the Year.

Cameron Belton continues his decorated career with a season sweep after being named both the Indoor and Outdoor NE10 Field Athlete of the Year. It is the fourth time he has won the award after winning in 2022 and 2024. He is set to compete this week in another National Championship. This season, he won his second outdoor and sixth overall Northeast-10 Shot Put Championship, also winning the Discus for the second consecutive year. He was named the NE10 Most Outstanding Field Performer, and most recently, finished third at the New England Championships. His season-best throw of 18.11m ranks tenth in DII. He broke the SCSU Indoor Record in the Shot Put when he threw 18.54m at this year's Indoor National Championships, placing third and earning All-American honors for the first time in his career. This will be Belton's fourth time competing at the NCAA Outdoor National Championships and his eighth national selection overall.

Lawrence Hicks's was dominant in his rookie year with the Owls, and will continue breakout season with a trip to the National Championships. The freshman from Red Bank, New Jersey, has had a phenomenal outdoor season after winning the High Jump at the NE10 Indoor Championships. He has been named the NE10 Rookie of the Week three times and placed second in the Long Jump at the NE10 Outdoor Championships. He won gold in the High Jump when he cleared a personal-best 2.10m, which ties him for 18th best in Division II. He also won the New England Championship in the High Jump, clearing 2.09m. Hicks will make his outdoor national championship debut in his first collegiate outdoor season.

John Wallin earned his 12th NE10 Outdoor Track & Field Coach of the Year honor after the Owls captured their 18th overall and ninth-straight outdoor NE10 title. Wallin also won Coach of the Year during the Indoor season, where he has been honored 11 times while helping the Owls to 17 NE10 Championships. He won his third straight NE10 Cross Country Coach of the Year in the fall after SCSU's Men's Cross Country Team won their third-straight title.

Belton and Hicks will travel to Pueblo, Colorado to compete in the 2025 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Championships, with both athletes competing on Saturday, May 24th.
