AMHERST, Mass. - Southern Connecticut Outdoor Track & Field is set to compete against a field of Division I, II, and III schools at the 2025 NEICAAA New England Championships on Saturday, May 10th.
The men's team is coming off their ninth consecutive Northeast-10 Conference Title. They won the 2024 NEICAAA Outdoor Championships, their seventh in program history and first since 2022. The Owls captured 23 medals at the NE10 Championships, including 10 golds. Cameron Belton led the way with wins in the Shot Put and Discus Throw en route to being named the NE10's Most Outstanding Field Performer. His season-best throw of 18.11m in the Shot Put ranks seventh in all of Division II. He is the only returning individual champion from last year's NEICAAA Outdoor Championships and will look to defend his back-to-back Shot Put titles. Belton and teammate Natanael Barbosa Torres hold the second and third best marks among competitors behind New Hampshire's Yoogi Abaka-Amuah's best throw of 18.82m. Osaretin Osagie also captured two golds in the 110m and 400m Hurdles at the NE10 Championships and was named the NE10 Most Outstanding Track Performer. His time of 13.99 ranks 18th in the nation, and his 400m Hurdles time ranks in the top 60. Jonathan Volpe grabbed golds in the 1500m and 800m, with his 1500 time ranking in the top 25 in DII. Nevan Burke will look for another strong performance at New Englands after placing second in 2024 with a personal best throw of 67.37m that sent him to the NCAA National Championships. He won his first NE10 Javelin Championship this past weekend with a season-best throw of 62.46m. Lawrence Hicks holds the top High Jump among competitors after clearing 2.10m at the NE10 Championships. That mark ranks 16th in Division II. View the Men's Final Performance List here.
The women's team is coming off their second-straight NE10 title. They placed third in a tight finish at last year's New England Championships, just behind Bryant and Holy Cross. Top performers from last weekend include Kisha Francois, who was named the NE10's Most Valuable Athlete after compiling the highest point total at the Outdoor Championships. She won the Long Jump, 100m Dash, and was a part of the Owls' 4x100 team that placed first. Hannah Caiola was also a part of the 4x100 team. She won the 400m and 200m, and was named the NE10's Most Outstanding Track Performer. She won the 400m, 4x100, and 4x400 at last year's New England Championships. Francois was also a part of last year's 4x100 and 4x400 teams. After breaking the SCSU Program Record twice, Kimberly Moran will head into the New England Championships with the top time in the 3000m Steeplechase. Her time ranks 26th in Division II. Belle Smith was named the NE10's Most Outstanding Field Performer after winning the Shot Put and Hammer Throw, also taking home third in the Discus Throw.
