Cazzaniga, Gagne, Lamburn, and Osagie Named to CSC Academic All-District Team

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Southern Connecticut Men's Cross Country and Track & Field Standouts Luca Cazzaniga, Owen Gagne, Will Lamburn, and Osaretin Osagie were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team for the 2024-2025 season. Osagie was also selected as a CSC Academic All-America® finalist, meaning he will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. 

Luca Cazzaniga, a senior from Bethel, Conn., had an extremely successful season as a member of both the Owls' Cross Country and Track & Field programs. He was a Northeast 10 Academic All-Conference selection in the fall, and was named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll for both the Fall and Spring semesters, earning Academic Distinction for having a GPA between 3.50 and 3.99. He was an All-NE10 Second Team selection during the cross country season, helping the team to their third-straight NE10 Championship and third-straight NCAA East Region Championship. On the track, he grabbed bronze medals in the 5000m and 10000m at the NE10 Outdoor Championships. 

Owen Gagne, a senior from Weathersfield, Conn., capped off a decorated 2024-2025 season with Academic All-District honors. He was a Northeast 10 Academic All-Conference selection in the fall and winter, and was named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll for both the Fall and Spring semesters, also earning Academic Distinctions. In the fall, he became the third Owl to win the NE10 Cross Country Championship, and became the second to be named NE10 Runner of the Year, also landing on the All-NE10 First Team. At the NE10 Indoor Track & Field Championships, he brought home silver in the 4x800m relay. 

Will Lamburn also landed on the CSC Academic All-District team after a great year. He was a Northeast 10 Acadmic All-Conference selection in the fall, and was named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll for both the Fall and Spring semesters, earning Academic Distinction both times. He finished second behind Gagne at the 2024 NE10 Cross Country Championships, earning All-Conference First Team honors and helping the Owls to their third-consecutive NE10 and NCAA East Region Championships. 

Osaretin Osagie, a senior from Norwich, Conn., was dominant on and off the track during the 2025 season. He landed on the Northeast 10 Academic Honor Roll both semesters, earning Academic Honors. Across the Indoor and Outdoor NE10 Championships, Osagie brought home four medals, including wins in the 110m Hurdles and 400m Hurdles at the Outdoor Championships, where he was named the Most Outstanding Track Performer. At the New England Championships, he won the 110m Hurdles and the 4x400m Relay, also placing second in the 400m Hurdles. He was selected for the 2025 NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championships, and earned All-American Second Team honors when he placed 11th in the 110m Hurdles. He was also selected as a CSC Academic All-America finalist. The results of the national ballot will be announced on July 16th.
