COLCHESTER, Vt. — Southern Connecticut State put together its most complete conference performance of the season Saturday, sweeping Saint Michael's 3-0 for its third Northeast-10 Conference victory.

Southern Connecticut finished with edges in kills (37-23), aces (11-1), blocks (5-3), assists (32-21) and digs (48-42) before an announced crowd of 118.

Sydney Bennett added eight kills on .438 hitting, while setter Kimi Mitchell directed the offense with 26 assists, eight digs and three aces. Marisabelle Sias chipped in five kills, and Jaiden Binning led the defense at the net with four blocks.

Southern Connecticut took control late in the first set. Tied at 10-10, the Owls ripped off eight straight points behind Habing's serve, including two aces. Bennett and Sias had three kills combined in the surge, and Southern closed on a block by Sarah Stark and Habing to take the set 25-14. The Owls hit .464 in the opener with 15 kills and two errors.

The second set belonged to the Owls from the start. After Saint Michael's opened with a kill, Southern answered with six straight points and never looked back. Mitchell served five consecutive points in a run that included aces from Sarah Henault, Alyssa Ferreira and Mitchell herself. Leading 10-6, Southern scored 12 of the next 14 to build a 22-8 cushion before Habing closed it 25-12.

The Purple Knights pushed in the third, tying the set five times and leading 10-8. Southern answered with composure. Trailing 13-12, Bennett tied it on Mitchell's 26th assist, and Ferreira's serving forced two attack errors to give the Owls a 15-13 lead they would not relinquish.

Habing's third ace made it 17-15. After Saint Michael's trimmed it to 17-16, Southern finished on an 8-2 run. Binning teamed with Katie Bardak for a block, Bardak's kill set up match point, and Tessa LaFrenier's attack sailed long to end it 25-18.
