NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut State University Men's Soccer team battled Felician University to a 1-1 draw on Saturday afternoon at Jess Dow Field. With the result, the Owls move to 0-1-2 on the season, while the Golden Falcons move to 1-2-1.
After a scoreless opening half, Felician broke through in the second half when Issa El Assal scored at 64:51, assisted by Anthony Gomez, to give the Golden Falcons a 1-0 advantage. The Owls continued to pressure the Felician defense, answering with a goal from Jimmy Choi at 82:46 to even the score at 1-1. Choi's goal marked his first of the season.
SCSU finished the match with a 16-9 advantage in shots and a 7-5 edge in shots on goal. Choi led the Owls with eight shots, including three on goal. Roger Fontdegloria recorded three shots and put two on target, while Izan Vila added one shot on goal.
In goal, Héctor Díez Viota played all 90 minutes and made four saves for the Owls.
SCSU Men's Soccer returns to action on Sunday, Sept. 13th at 12 PM, when the Owls host Mercy University at the Jess Dow Field.
