St. Anselm Pulls Out 3-2 Win Over SCSU In Field Hockey Action

MANCHESTER, N.H. - Junior Whitney Martin (Harwinton, Conn.) and freshman Ann Berry (Belfast, Maine) each scored a goal, but the Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team was edged by St. Anselm on Saturday, 3-2. The game was ultimately decided on a goal by the Hawks' Sam Rowe with just 3:11 remaining in the contest.

The Owls are now 4-9, 3-7 in Northeast-10 play following the defeat.

Martin remained on a roll, as she scored her eighth goal of the year just 17:13 into the game.However, St. Anselm tied the game just under four minutes later. The Hawks would strike again to take the lead, but Berry found the back of the cage with 4:54 remaining in the opening half.

The game stayed that way until late in the second half, when Rowe's marker sealed up the win for the hosts.

SCSU returns to action on Oct. 2 for a 4 p.m. road game at C.W. Post.
