SCSU Field Hockey's Taylor Leckey and Isabella Fölster Earn All-Northeast 10 Honors

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut field hockey standouts Taylor Leckey and Isabella Fölster were announced as recipient of Northeast-10 Conference honors. Leckey was named to the NE10 First Team while Folster was named to the Second Team and All-Rookie Team.

Leckey's honor is the second of her career at Southern Connecticut after earning Third Team accolades last season. Leckey is the seventh student-athlete in program history to earn First Team recognition and first since Sarah Cebry in 2013.  Fölster gives the Owls an All-Rookie pick for the fourth consecutive season and she is the 15th player in school history to Earn Second team honors.

Leckey finished the year with a team-best 11 goals and 10 assists for 32 points while also posting eight defensive saves – all stats that rank among the top of the NE10 leaderboards. In addition, her eight defensive saves ranked second in NCAA Division II field hockey and her 0.53 assists per game ranked seventh. Against St. Thomas Aquinas on Sept. 22, Leckey led the way for the Owls with four goals and two assists, which made her the second player in program history, joining Sara Cebry against St. Michael's and Franklin Pierce in 2012, to score 10 points in a single game. In two seasons with the Owls, Leckey totaled 13 goals and 12 assists for 38 career points.

Fölster had an incredible first season with the Owls, totaling nine goals and eight assists for 25 points. Her first points with the Owls came in a 5-1 win against Mercy when she totaled two goals and an assist, which kicked off a four-game point streak. When Folster scored a goal, Southern was 7-0 for the year. Fölster was also named NE10 Field Hockey Rookie of the Week on Sept. 22 after she had two assists in an overtime win at Franklin Pierce and then scored the go-ahead goal in a 2-1 conference win at St. Michael's.
