LOOKING TO STAY ON A ROLL
Winners of two in a row and five of seven, the Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team will look to maintain its winning ways this week against Franklin Pierce and St. Anselm. The Owls travel to Franklin Pierce on Tuesday before hosting St. Anselm on Saturday in the 'Play 4 The Cure' event. On Saturday, the team will wear pink jerseys and pink socks for the game, and all fans in attendance will receive special pink-themed promotional item giveaways.
A LOGJAM AMONGST THE NE-10 PACK
The Owls are currently in a four-way tie for second place in the Northeast-10 with Bentley, St. Michael's and Stonehill. All four teams have a 6-3 mark in league play.
TWO EARN NORTHEAST-10 WEEKLY HONORS
Whitney Martin and
Sara Winterbottom were both selected to the Northeast-10 weekly honor roll on Sept. 29. Martin tallied eight points (three goals, two assists) in two games last week, while Winterbottom had six points (three goals).
DYNAMIC DUO RANKS AMONG LEAGUE LEADERS
Whitney Martin and
Sara Winterbottom currently rank fourth and fifth, in the Northeast-10, respectively, in points. Martin has 22 points, while Winterbottom has registered 21.
SCORING IN BUNCHES
The Owls rank second in the Northeast-10 in scoring at 2.89 goals per game.
OWLS EARN NATIONAL RANKING
Thanks to a pair of wins over nationally ranked St. Michael's and Stonehill squads, the Owls entered the national polls at No. 10 on Sept. 17.

After leading the Owls with seven points (three goals, one assist) in two games against St. Michael's and Stonehill, senior captain
Whitney Martin was selected as the National Player of the Week by www.womensfieldhockey.com. Martin scored once in the win over Stonehill and followed that up with a five-point day (two goals, one assist) in the victory over St. Michael's.
