NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team dropped its final non-conference contest of the regular season on Thursday night, a 3-0 decision to C.W. Post.
The Owls are now 6-12 on the year. C.W. Post improved to 7-9.
Southern Connecticut had a strong scoring chance late in the first half.
Brittany Barra (Goshen, Conn.),
KellyAnne McCafferty (Durham, N.H.) and
Laurie Cockerline (Lopatcong, N.J.) were all stopped in close off of a penalty corner attempt.
Following the flurry, C.W. Post struck first on a goal from Krystal Napolitano. The score stayed that way into halftime.
The Pioneers added a pair of second half goals to make it a 3-0 final.

Lauren Zarrella (Morris, Conn.) stopped seven shots in the game.
Southern Connecticut returns to action on Saturday at 1 p.m. when it hosts No. 4 nationally ranked Stonehill. It will be Senior Day for the Owls, who will recognize McCafferty,
Lauren Karn (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) and
Courtney Hirst (Westbrook, Conn.) prior to the game.
