GARDEN CITY, N.Y. - Four different players scored a goal, but the Southern Connecticut State University women's lacrosse team dropped its season opener on Wednesday night to No. 2 nationally ranked Adelphi, 24-4.
Adelphi (4-0) struck first just 24 seconds into the game, but the Owls quickly answered only 27 seconds later on a marker from
Elaina Heiple (Cheshire, Conn.).
The Panthers scored the next 16 goals of the contest to extend their lead to 17-1. SCSU jumped back on a scoreboard when
Teresa Monfredo (Shirley, N.Y.) found the back of the net.
Grace Martha (Cheshire, Conn.) and
KellyAnne McCafferty (Durham, N.H.) closed out the scoring with goals for the Owls.

Lisa Corso (North Bellmore, N.Y.) finished with eight saves in the contest.
