Laurie Cockerline (Lopatcong, N.J.) each tallied a goal, but the Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team was unable to hang on to a late lead in a 3-2 overtime loss to Merrimack on Saturday.
The Owls are now 1-6 overall, while Merrimack improved to 4-3.
Morgan found the back of the net on an unassisted rebound goal just 2:10 into the second half to give the hosts a 2-1 lead. The game stayed that way until the final minute of regulation when April Daugherty scored with only 50 seconds left.
The Warriors won the game only 53 seconds into the extra frame on a tally from Jen Otis.
Southern Connecticut struck first just under 14 minutes into the game when Cockerline registered her first collegiate goal off a scramble in front.
Merrimack answered with a tally from Stephanie Glazer to even the score, and the game stayed that way into the second half.
The Owls return to action on Wednesday at 4 p.m.at Stonehill.
