Ann Farrier (Belfast, Maine) and sophomore
Laura Dembofsky (Stamford, Conn.) each scored a goal, but the Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team dropped a 4-2 decision at Adelphi on Wednesday night.
The Owls are now 4-8, 2-3 in Northeast-10 Conference play. Adelphi is 7-4.
Southern opened the scoring 10:31 into the game when Dembofsky connected off an assist from
Dieny Charlot (Deep River, Conn.).
However, Adelphi scored three times in a span of 8:04 later in the opening half to carry a 3-1 lead into the intermission.
The Owls climbed back within a goal just under eight minutes into the second half when Farrier found the back of the net.
Adelphi restored its two goal lead with just under 20 minutes to play and held on for the win.

Lauren Zarrella (Morris, Conn.) finished with 10 saves in the game.
The Owls are back in action on Saturday when they travel to No. 3 nationally ranked UMass-Lowell.
