Field Hockey Edged By AIC, 2-1

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Freshman Sarah Cebry (Burlington, Conn.) scored her sixth goal of the year, but the Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team lost a 2-1 decision to American International on Tuesday evening.

The Owls are now 3-7, 1-2 in league play. AIC is 5-4, 2-1. 

Southern Connecticut struck early on Cebry's marker that came just 5:37 into play. Sophomore Erica Fisher (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) registered an assist on the goal.

However, the Owls were unable to maintain the lead for the duration of the contest. AIC evened the scored just under 13 minutes later and took the lead for good with 8:50 remaining in the opening stanza. Neither team scored in the second half.

Goalie Lauren Zarrella (Morris, Conn.) finished with 11 saves in the contet.

The Owls are back in action on Saturday at 2 p.m. when they take on St. Michael's in their annual 'Play 4 The Cure' game.
