Field Hockey Defeated By Franklin Pierce, 4-2

RINDGE, N.H. - Freshmen Sarah Cebry (Burlington, Conn.) and Amanda DeChent (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) each scored a goal, but the Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team dropped a 4-2 decision to Franklin Pierce on Wednesday night. The Owls will now wait word for their first round opponent in the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament, which begins on Nov. 16.

The Owls are now 8-11, 6-4 in Northeast-10 play. Franklin Pierce is 9-9, 6-4.

The hosts seized control early with three goals in a span of 4:37 that put the Owls in a quick three-goal hole.

Cebry trimmed the lead to two goals with her 11th of the year just past the midway point of the first half. Erica Fisher (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) assisted on the goal.

Franklin Pierce added one more goal before the intermission to restore the three-goal lead at the break.

Southern Connecticut scored the only goal of the second half when DeChent scored with just over 13 minutes remaining. Kristin Grecula (Canton, Conn.) was credited with an assist on the marker.

Goalie Lauren Zarrella (Morris, Conn.) made five saves in the contest.
