THE REGULAR SEASON FINALE
The Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team concludes its 2010 regular season on Wednesday when it travels to Franklin Pierce at 6 p.m. The Owls still have an opportunity to host a Northeast-10 Conference Tournament matchup depending on their result against the Ravens. The NE-10 Tournament kicks off on Nov. 16.

KEEPING IT INTERESTING
Five of the Owls' eight wins this year have come by a goal, including the last three triumphs.

FARRIER RECEIVES WEEKLY RECOGNITION
Senior Ann Farrier was named to the Northeast-10 Conference weekly honor roll last Monday. She tallied six points (two goals, two assists) in the Owls' two wins against Adelphi and Merrimack. Farrier had the game-winning goal against Adelphi and the game-tying goal late in regulation against Merrimack.

COCKERLINE COLLECTS AN ARRAY OF HONORS
Sophomore Laurie Cockerline was named both National Player of the Week by www.womensfieldhockey.com, as well as ECAC and Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week following her performances in two outings against Assumption and Bentley. She scored the game-winning goal against Assumption and followed that up by scoring four points (one goal, two assists) in the overtime win over Bentley. Cockerline also forced overtime by scoring the game-tying goal with two seconds left in regulation.

A BALANCED ATTACK
Six Owls - Sarah Cebry, Erica Fisher, Laurie Cockerline, Ann Farrier, Amanda DeChent and Laura Dembofsky - have scored double digits in points this year.

DEMBOFSKY SCORING IN BUNCHES
Sophomore Laura Dembofsky registered goals in three straight games from Oct. 19-27, including the game-winner in overtime against Bentley.

DECHENT DOES IT AGAIN
Freshman Amanda DeChent posted the second multiple-goal effort of the year in the win over Assumption.

WORKING OVERTIME
The equation has been pretty straightforward for the Owls thus far in 2010 - play into overtime and come home with a win. SCSU is 4-0 in overtime games this year, but 4-10 in games that conclude in regulation.

A NEW CAREER HIGH...AGAIN
For the second time this season, senior goalie Lauren Zarrella posted a single-game save mark against UMass-Lowell. After stopping 19 shots in the first meeting between the two teams in September, Zarrella turned away 20 shots on Oct. 16.

KEEPING THE STREAK GOING
The Owls won their third straight 'Play 4 The Cure' contest on Oct. 9 with a convincing 6-1 win over St. Michael's. The team wore pink jerseys and representatives from the Susan G. Komen Foundation were on site to assist the Owls in their efforts to raise breast cancer awareness. SCSU defeated St. Anselm in its first 'Play 4 The Cure' game in 2008 and downed a nationally ranked UMass-Lowell squad last year.

A BALANCED ATTACK
Six different players recorded a point for the Owls in their win over St. Michael's. Seniors Ann Farrier and Dieny Charlot both posted their first mulitple-point efforts of the year with three points (one goal, one assist).

FISHER HEATING UP THE SCORESHEET
Sophomore Erica Fisher has scored five goals in the last 11 games. She opened with a marker in the game against Stonehill and scored two goals - including the game-winner - against St. Anselm. Fisher then tacked on two goals in the win over St. Michael's.

OFFENSE KICKING IT UP A NOTCH
The Owls have tallied 32 goals in their last 12 contests after scoring just three in the four games prior.

ONE OR THE OTHER
The Owls have scored 33 goals in their eight wins this year, but just nine goals in their 10 losses.

CEBRY LEADING THE WAY
Freshman Sarah Cebry scored three goals in two games during the week of Oct. 5, including a two-goal effort in the win over St. Michael's. Cebry leads the team with 22 points (10 goals, two assists) this year.

DOUBLE TROUBLE
Freshman Amanda DeChent netted both SCSU goals in the first win over Merrimack - including the game-winner on a penalty stroke in overtime.

FOR HER EFFORTS...
DeChent was named Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week for her play against the Warriors.

ZARRELLA TOPS THE CHARTS
Senior goalie Lauren Zarrella currently leads the Northeast-10 Conference with 203 saves on the year.

FISHER CONNECTS FOR FIRST AS AN OWL
Erica Fisher scored her first goal in a Southern Connecticut uniform in the game against No. 6 nationally ranked C.W. Post.

ZARRELLA SETS NEW SINGLE-GAME HIGH
Senior goalie Lauren Zarrella stopped a career-high 19 shots against UMass-Lowell on Sept. 10. Her previous best of 16 came in a win over nationally ranked St. Michael's during the 2008 season.

WHAT'S IN A NUMBER?
The Owls played four of their first eight games of the year against teams ranked in the top 10 nationally.

IMMEDIATE IMPACT
Freshman Sarah Cebry was named Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Weekon Sept. 7. Cebry scored four goals over the weekend, including a hat trick and the game-winning overtime marker against Mansfield. She also scored the only Owls goal against Shippensburg.

SCORING IN BUNCHES
Sophomore Laurie Cockerline set a new career-high with six points (two goals, two assists) in the win over Mansfield.

IT'S BEEN A WHILE
The win over Mansfield marked the first time since the 1999 season that the Owls have defeated a member of the PSAC. That year, the Owls defeated both Kutztown and Lock Haven.

ON THE SCORESHEET
Freshman Amanda DeChent scored her first collegiate point with an assist in the season opener against Shippensburg.

A GOOD CORE RETURNS
Ten student-athletes return for the 2010 season for the Owls, including four seniors.

WELCOME TO THE CLUB
The Owls have brought nine newcomers into the fold this year - Robin Donaldson, Meghan Lahm, Alexandria Merked, Erica Fisher, Sarah Cebry, Petru Bester, Kristin Grecula, Lauren Cox and Amanda DeChent.

O CAPTAIN, MY CAPTAIN
Seniors Ann Farrier and #Jennifer Peterson will captain the squad this fall.

IN THE NORTHEAST-10 PRESEASON POLL
The Owls were selected seventh in the Northeast-10 Conference preseason poll, as voted on by the league's coaches.

BACK-TO-BACK
The Owls qualified for the Northeast-10 Tournament for the second year in a row in 2009. It marked the fifth NE-10 Tournament appearance for the Owls under head coach Kelley Frassinelli. Previously, SCSU made the tournament in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2008.

OWLS EARN RECOGNITION FROM CONNECTICUT DEPARTMENT OF HIGHER EDUCATION
The Connecticut Department of Higher Education recognized the Owls for their extensive community outreach efforts in an event held in Hartford in April, 2010.
