The Southern Connecticut State University women's lacrosse team closes out the regular season with two games this week. The Owls travel to Assumption on Wednesday night before heading to Saint Anselm on Saturday.
CORSO SETS A NEW MARK

SENIORS STAND OUT AGAINST ST. MIKE'S

Marissa Ryan all netted two goals apiece on Senior Day against St. Michael's.
HEIPLE HAS A FINE WEEK
Sophomore
Elaina Heiple tallied seven points (three goals, four assists) in games against AIC and Franklin Pierce. For her efforts, she was named to the Northeast-10 Conference weekly honor roll.
GOALS CONTINUE FOR MONFREDO
Senior
Teresa Monfredo, who has led the Owls in scoring in each of the past two seasons, currently leads the club with 20 points (18 goals, two assists) on the year.
CORSO REACHING DOUBLE DIGITS REGULARLY
Senior
Lisa Corso stopped at least 11 shots in seven of 11 outings so far in 2010.
VETERAN LEADERSHIP
Southern Connecticut has seven seniors leading the way on this year's team.
FROM THE PLAYING FIELD TO THE SIDELINE
Grace Martha has joined this year's team as an assistant coach. A four-year standout for the Owls, she closed out her career ranked first all-time in groundballs (149) and assists (22). She is also third all-time in points with 84 (62 goals, 22 assists).
IN THE NORTHEAST-10 PRESEASON POLL
Southern Connecticut was selected 11th in this year's Northeast-10 Conference preseason poll, as voted on by the league's coaches.
TWO OWLS EARN IWLCA RECOGNITION
Lauren Karn and
Marissa Ryan were both selected to the IWLCA All-Academic squad for their efforts in the classroom during the 2008-09 academic year.
A TOUGH SLATE FOR THE OWLS
Southern Connecticut faced five nationally ranked opponents in its 14 games in 2009, including three of the top seven teams in the nation to open the campaign.
HEIPLE PACED THE ROOKIES
Elaina Heiple led all freshmen with 14 points on the year (10 goals, four assists).
KARN SUCCESSFULLY SCOOPED THEM UP
Lauren Karn led the Owls with 40 groundballs in 2009. Her 18 caused turnovers were second on the club in that department.
MONFREDO MAINTAINED THE PACE
Teresa Monfredo, the top returning scorer from 2008, led the squad with 27 points (24 goals, three assists) in 2009.
