Erica Fisher (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) scored her first goal as an Owl and goalie
Lauren Zarrella (Morris, Conn.) stopped 15 shots, but the Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team lost to No. 6 nationally ranked C.W. Post on Thursday, 4-1.
The Owls are now 1-4 on the year. C.W. Post improved to 3-0;
The hosts opened the scoring just over four minutes into the game on a goal from Carlee Dragon. C.W. Post extended its lead to two goals on the first of three markers from Amanda Nann just under 13 minutes later.
The Owls cut the deficit in half when Fisher connected off a pass from
Ryan Morgan (Somers, Conn.) with 10:13 left in the first half.
However, the Pioneers were able to tack on another goal by Nann later in the first half to push their lead back to two goals at 3-1.
Nann capped her hat trick just over five minutes into the second half to make it a 4-1 final.
The Owls are back in action on Sept. 22 against Bentley.
