WORCESTER, Mass. - Trailing 1-0 at halftime, the Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team connected for four second half goals and captured a 4-3 win over Assumption in a Northeast-10 Conference contest on Tuesday night. Junior forward
Erica Fisher (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) had five points in the game, including the eventual game-winning goal with 6:11 remaining.
Southern Connecticut is now 5-11, 2-6 in Northeast-10 Conference play. Assumption is now 1-12, 1-8 in league play.
The Owls wasted no time in tying the game after halftime. Fisher scored an unassisted tally just 1:46 into the half. Then, only 73 seconds later,
Laurie Cockerline (Lopatcong, N.J.) put the Owls in front off an assist from Fisher.
Assumption came back to even the score at 2-2, but
Sarah Cebry (Burlington, Conn.) scored to allow SCSU to regain the lead. Fisher went on to add her second of the night off an assist from Cebry later in the half.
The Greyhounds would score a goal in the final minute, but the Owls hung on to sweep the season series for Assumption.
