GARDEN CITY, N.Y. - Junior forward
Erica Fisher (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) had two goals, including the game-winner 6:47 into overtime, to propel the Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team to a 3-2 win over Adelphi in a Northeast-10 Conference game on Tuesday night.
The Owls are now 4-8, 1-3 in NE-10 play. Adelphi moved to 5-7, 2-2.
The Panthers struck first on a goal just over 20 minutes in, but the Owls evened the score before halftime. Fisher connected with 3:06 remaining in the stanza to tie it at 1-1 into halftime.
Adelphi regained the lead in the first five minutes of the second half, but
Laurie Cockerline (Lopatcong, N.J.) tied the game on a goal with just under 15 minutes left.
Neither team connected the rest of regulation, setting the stage for Fisher's game-winner.
Nicole Scionti (Deep River, Conn.) finished with 12 saves in the win.
The Owls are back in action on Saturday for a game at St. Michael's.
