NEW HAVEN, Conn. – For the third year in a row, the Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team has been recognized with National Academic Team honors from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association. The Owls posted a team cumulative grade point average of 3.38, which was the fourth best in all of Division II and tops among Northeast-10 Conference schools. The National Academic Team Award recognizes those institutions that achieved a minimum GPA of 3.0 during the first semester of the 2010-11 academic year.
The Owls finished the 2010 season with an appearance in the first round of the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament.
