NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Junior Elaina Heiple (Cheshire, Conn.) and graduate student Marissa Ryan (Waterbury, Conn.) each netted a goal, but the Southern Connecticut State University women's lacrosse team lost a 24-2 decision to No. 1 nationally ranked Adelphi on Wednesday afternoon.

The Owls are now 0-12, 0-10 in Northeast-10 play. Adelphi is 12-0, 10-0 in league action.

Adelphi netted the first seven goals of the game before Heiple connected off a pass from Ryan. The Panthers scored the final 13 goals of the half to take a 20-1 lead into halftime.

Ryan netted a marker in the second half, a frame in which Adelphi scored four of the five goals.

The Owls are back in action on Saturday for a home game against Saint Anselm.
