NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Elaina Heiple (Cheshire, Conn.) and Marissa Ryan (Waterbury, Conn.) each scored a goal, but the Southern Connecticut State University women's lacrosse team dropped a 19-2 decision to Assumption College on Wednesday afternoon.

The Owls are now 0-8, 0-6 in Northeast-10 play. Assumption is 4-4, 2-4 in league action.

Assumption jumped out to a 4-0 lead before Heiple connected for her 13th goal of the year. The Greyhounds then scored the next eight goals of the stanza and carried a 12-1 lead into halftime.

Assumption scored the first goal of the second half before Ryan found the back of the net for the Owls. The visitors then tallied the final six goals of the game to make it a 19-2 final.

Lynette Martinez (Stamford, Conn.) turned away 13 shots in her debut between the pipes for the Owls.

Southern Connecticut is back in action on Saturday for a home game against Franklin Pierce.
