NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Five different players registered a goal, but the Southern Connecticut State University women's lacrosse team lost a 21-7 decision to Franklin Pierce on Saturday afternoon.
The Owls are now 0-9, 0-7 in Northeast-10 play. Franklin Pierce is 6-4, 3-3 in league action.
Franklin Pierce jumped out to a 7-0 before
Elaina Heiple (Cheshire, Conn.) and
Jessica Shaw (Beverly, Mass.) scored back-to-back goals for the Owls.
The Ravens struck next to make it 8-2 before Heiple scored again for the Owls. FPU scored the final five goals of the half to take a 13-3 lead into the break.
Marissa Ryan (Waterbury, Conn.) tallied two second half markers for the Owls, who also received single tallies from
Alexandria Merked (West Hartford, Conn.) and
Maura Woods (Old Saybrook, Conn.).
Lynette Martinez (Stamford, Conn.) made 15 saves for SCSU in the contest.
Southern Connecticut is back in action on Tuesday for a road game against Franklin Pierce.
