MANCHESTER, N.H. - Sophomore
Sarah Cebry (Burlington, Conn.) gave the Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team a lead with a goal late in the first half, but Saint Anselm scored twice after the intermission to capture a 2-1 win over the Owls on Saturday evening.
Southern Connecticut is now 2-5 on the year. St. Anselm moved to 2-4.
The contest was an evenly played one. Southern Connecticut finally struck with 1:54 remaining in the first half. During a scramble in front of the Hawks' cage, Laurie Cocker line (Lopatcong, N.J.) tipped a pass to Cebry, who tucked the ball through a maze of Saint Anselm players for the goal.
St. Anselm tied the game with just more than six minutes gone by in the second half and tacked on the game winner with 8:14 remaining.
The Owls are back in action on Thursday at Merrimack.
