Field Hockey Drops 5-1 Decision To Franklin Pierce

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior Ryan Morgan (Stafford, Conn.) tallied a goal and freshman goalkeeper Nicole Scionti (Deep River, Conn.) finished with 12 saves, but the Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team dropped a 5-1 decision to Franklin Pierce on Saturday afternoon.

The Owls are now 2-7, 0-2 in Northeast-10 Conference play. Franklin Pierce is 4-5, 2-0.

The contest was scoreless for the first 20 minutes, but Franklin Pierce struck first on a goal from Tia Levins with 14:31 left in the opening stanza. The score stayed that way as both teams headed into the intermission.

The Ravens then added four goals in a 15 minute stretch in the second half, including three from Levins.

Morgan put the Owls on the scoreboard on a tally with 5:35 remaining off an Owls' penalty corner.

Southern Connecticut is back in action on Wednesday night for a non-conference home game against Mercy.
