Box Score

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Four different players scored second half goals as the Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team rallied from two separate deficits to double up Mercy on Wednesday evening in non-conference action, 4-2.

The Owls improved to 3-7 on the year with the win. Mercy is now 0-10.

Mercy carried a 1-0 lead into the second half, but the Owls evened the score 3:42 into the frame when Randi Schock (Stamford, Conn.) connected on a penalty stroke.

The Mavericks regained the lead just under 10 minutes later, but only briefly. Sarah Cebry (Burlington, Conn.) evened the game just 77 seconds after that score off an assist from Kaitlyn Stobierski (Northford, Conn.).

The Owls went ahead for good with 8:12 remaining on a tally from Erica Fisher (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) that came off a pass from Stobierski right on the goal line.

Southern Connecticut sealed the game on a goal from Aleida Mapes (Sanford, Maine) with 2:08 left in the contest.

Owls' goalie Nicole Scionti (Deep River, Conn.) stopped two shots to earn the win. SCSU outshot Mercy by a 28-4 margin for the game and held a 19-1 edge in penalty corners.

The Owls return to action on Saturday for a home game against No. 4 nationally ranked UMass-Lowell.
