Allison Vilardi (Burlington, Conn.) netted her first collegiate hat trick to lead the Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team to a 4-2 win at St. Anselm on Saturday evening.
The win was the second in a row for the Owls, who are now 6-8 overall and 3-4 in Northeast-10 Conference play. The Hawks are 6-10, 3-5 in league action.
Vilardi opened the scoring with a tally just 7:03 into play. The goal was assisted by
Sarah Cebry (Burlington, Conn.).
However, the Hawks scored only 10 seconds later to even the contest.
Vilardi's second goal of the night came with 11:53 remaining in the opening stanza, also off an assist from Cebry. She then capped the hat trick off a penalty corner at the 35-minute mark of the opening half.
Meghan Lahm (Wingdale, N.Y.) was credited with an assist on that goal.
Cebry netted her 20th goal of the season 6:05 into the second half to extend the lead to 4-1.
Bailey McGinnis (North Branford, Conn.) assisted on the score.
St. Anselm scored a goal in the closing minutes to make it a 4-2 final.
The Owls are back in action on Tuesday for a home game against Assumption.
