SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Four different players scored a goal to pace the Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team in its 4-2 win at American International on Thursday afternoon. The win was the fourth in a row for the Owls.
SCSU improved to 8-8 overall and 5-4 in Northeast-10 Conference play. AIC is 3-14, 2-7 in league action.
The Owls scored the first four goals of the game, three of which came in the first half, and cruised from there.
Laurie Cockerline (Lopatcong, N.J.) opened the scoring 8:32 into play with an unassisted goal. Then, just 1:58 later,
Erica Fisher (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) knocked in a rebound to extend the lead to 2-0.
Jennifer O'Neill (Saylorsburg, Pa.) followed with her first collegiate goal with just under eight minutes left in the stanza to pad the advantage to three goals at the break.
Bailey McGinnis (North Branford, Conn.) added her eighth goal of the year later in the second half. AIC would score two goals in the final eight minutes but would get no closer.
Audrey Dolloff (Raynham, Mass.) finished with 11 saves in the contest for the Owls.
SCSU closes the regular season on Saturday with a home game against Bentley at 2 p.m.
