A NEW SEASON BEGINS
The Southern Connecticut State University women's lacrosse team will play its 2012 season opener against Bentley on Tuesday night at SCSU. Game time is set for 6 p.m. at Jess Dow Field. The Owls will then travel to Bridgeport on Saturday at 11 a.m.
IN THE NORTHEAST-10 PRESEASON POLL
The Owls were selected 13th in the Northeast-10 preseason poll for the 2012 season.

ALL-TIME AGAINST BENTLEY
Bentley leads the all-time series against SCSU by a 10-0 margin.
ALL-TIME AGAINST BRIDGEPORT
This will be the first all-time game between SCSU and Bridgeport.
PAIR EARNS IWLCA HONORS
Elaina Heiple and
Marissa Ryan were both named to the IWLCA All-Academic squad for their work on the field and in the classroom in 2011. In order to receive this honor, student-athletes must have achieved at least a minimum GPA of 3.5 and maintained at least junior academic standing.
RYAN TABBED FOR NE-10 ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM
Marissa Ryan was selected to the Northeast-10 Conference Women's Lacrossse All-Academic Team following the conclusion of the season. In order to receive this honor, student-athletes must have achieved at least a minimum GPA of 3.3, participated in at least 50-percent of action and completed at least one academic year at their current institution.
DUO SETS NEW CAREER HIGHS
Marissa Ryan and
Elaina Heiple both set new career-highs in points in 2011. Ryan tallied 15 points (11 goals, four assists) on the year, while Heiple led the club with 28 points (24 goals, four assists).
RYAN MAKES MARK ON RECORD BOOK
Marissa Ryan enjoyed a stellar senior season for the Owls. She set a new SCSU single-season record with 61 draw controls and recorded 51 groundballs (second best single-season mark in school history) to lead the team. Ryan also led the team in caused turnovers (20). She finished her career as the program's all-time leader with 123 draw controls and is second all-time in SCSU history in groundballs with 142.
SHAW NOT FAR BEHIND
Jessica Shaw ranked second on the team with 16 points and was also second with 16 goals on the season.

The Owls will return to action on Wednesday, March 14 against Post. Game time is set for 4 p.m. at Jess Dow Field.
